Building Bridges Between Students & City Action and Resiliency

Today’s "Connecting Students to Climate Research" workshop, hosted by the UT-City Climate CoLab, was a powerful example of how academia and municipal action can come together to tackle pressing city decision making challenges regarding weather extremes.

Over the summer, we engaged with leaders and asset managers from a dozen City of Austin departments to identify their most urgent environmental research needs. Today, students had the opportunity to explore those priorities, aligning their academic interests with real-world solutions.

By fostering academic-municipal partnerships, we’re not just connecting students to research—we’re empowering the next generation of climate leaders to drive meaningful change. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, asked thoughtful questions, and contributed to this vibrant discussion.

🌿 Let’s keep building these bridges and turning research into impact!
